Insurance and Use of Buggies on the Course
Written by Scott Currie

There is now a small card for you to take away re the members and signed-on visitors insurance cover we now have - they are in Cottage 2.  Remember that any claim has to be made promptly and through the secretary who will issue claim forms. It should also be noted that "the ownership, possession, maintenance or use by any member or visitor or on behalf of any member or visitor of any buggy"is SPECIFICALLY EXCLUDED.

The Machrie have introduced a Buggy & Trolley Policy which I understand you have to sign to take a buggy out - mostly common sense, but it states "Any person who operates a buggy on the course....will be fully accountable for their actions and the consequences thereof". It does not mention insurance, so if you are a regular buggy user you may wish to investigate taking out personal cover for buggy use. Carrick Neil, through whom we have our insurance, can offer this on a per person basis - there are advertising cards for this in Cottage 2. No doubt there are many other people offering such cover and this is not an endoresement from the club for Carrick Neil's policy.

Gordon Macmillan Memorial Team Competition
Written by Scott Currie
Wednesday, 18 April 2018 07:52
As you are aware, the above competition will be held on the opening Saturday of Cross Week 2018.  The day will provide us all with the opportunity to honour the memory of our Cross Champion.

The Committee is keen to use the day to raise funds for 2 charities / organisations selected by Gordon's wife, Lorna.  To assist with this, a raffle will take place with proceeds being distributed between the Royal Marsden Hospital and the 'Islay and Jura Palliative Care fund'.

5000 tickets have been printed for sale at £1 each with the star prize being a 2 night stay with golf at Machrie. Other prizes include a Scotty Cameron putter (donated by Lorna), a weekend self catering accommodation on Islay, a deluxe Whisky Tour and numerous bottles of local produce.

To assist in the fundraising the Committee is asking all members to take an allocation of tickets to sell.  It is hoped that we will sell close to the 5000 printed tickets so I would ask that you make an effort to sell as many tickets as possible.  If, for example, every member was to sell a minimum of 25 tickets we would comfortably reach our target.  I am sure the prizes on offer will make it an easy sell!!!

of the number of tickets you would like to sell and we will get them posted / delivered to you.

Thanks in advance

Match Secretary

At the recent Committee Meeting, David Livingstone stated his desire to step down from the role of Match Secretary, which he has done for the past 5 years or so. The Captain thanked David for his tremendous work for the club and it was agreed that in future the club really needs a Match Secretrary and a couple of deputies, so that the load is spread.

David will be a hard act to follow, but if you are interested in either the main role or being a deputy, please contact the Captain or Vice Captain. David will also be happy to talk about what the role entails, and he has kindly agreed to stay on for a short while until a replacement can be found.
