Islay Open – Sponsored by Kilchoman Distillery

Competitor Information 8th & 9th June, 2024

Registration – All competitors must register on both Saturday & Sunday, by visiting the registration desk located just inside Machrie Hotel front doors. Please register at least 30 minutes prior to your allocated tee time. The event is sponsored by Kilchoman Distillery and you will receive a welcome gift at registration. Scorecards will be given out at the starter tent on the first tee, before your round. Please be at the 1st tee at least 5 minutes prior to your tee time.  Late arrival to the tee may result in disqualification.

Practice – range tokens are available in the pro shop (£3), located on the ground floor of the hotel. The Pro Shop also have a range of clothing, balls, tees, etc, as well as snacks and refreshments. There are a combination of covered and open bays for shot practice. There are practice putting, bunker & chipping facilities in front of the hotel car park too.

General Play – No preferred lies, (animal scraping excepted). The burns on 2nd and 10th hole are both out of bounds. If your shot is in doubt anywhere on the course, please hit a provisional ball. No more than 3 minutes allowed to search for lost balls. Given the size of the field, every group must keep up good pace and with the group in front. If you do fall behind, please wave through the following group.

Score Cards – Your card must be signed by you and your marker. Take it to the 1891 lounge just beyond the 18th hole (the course end of the driving range block) where it will be recorded by the Score Master. A live leader board will be on display in the 1891 Lounge.

Catering – Morning rolls (bacon, sausage), coffee & teas will be available on Saturday & Sunday, opposite the Pro Shop. A Golfers Special lunch will be available in the hotel main restaurant (upstairs) at £15 for a main meal plus a drink – available until 5pm on both Saturday & Sunday.

Prizes – There will be 3 prize categories (Scratch, 10 and under, 10.1 and over – based on WHI), There will be daily and overall prizes awarded for each category. There will also be daily prizes for closest to the pin (x3) & longest drive.
Prizegiving – The Open Prizegiving will take place on Sunday, in the upstairs Stag Lounge in The Machrie Hotel 30 mins after the last playing group has submitted their cards. This is estimated to be 7-7:30pm. Can all competitors still on Islay, please make every effort to attend the Prizegiving. Prize winners who are on the afternoon ferry or flight will have their prizes sent out to your registered home address.
