Match Secretary

At the recent Committee Meeting, David Livingstone stated his desire to step down from the role of Match Secretary, which he has done for the past 5 years or so. The Captain thanked David for his tremendous work for the club and it was agreed that in future the club really needs a Match Secretrary and a couple of deputies, so that the load is spread.

David will be a hard act to follow, but if you are interested in either the main role or being a deputy, please contact the Captain or Vice Captain. David will also be happy to talk about what the role entails, and he has kindly agreed to stay on for a short while until a replacement can be found.

Please note that I will be away until 31st March (so any subscriptions issues will not be delt with by then) but I will be happy to talk to anyone about this after that date.

In the light of preliminary discussions with the new hotel management, Islay Golf Club has now closed its Country Membership list to new applications (those few currently in train will be accepted). This DOES NOT AFFECT existing Country Members. Those who are currently "retained" will be given a once only opportunity to upgrade next season, or they can do so now.

Any new applications will be placed on a waiting list. There will be a cap on the number of Country Members to be agreed with the Hotel, at which point the waiting list will be contacted with up to date information on the likelhood of gaining membership.

Local memberships are still available - for the time being, "local" means if your main place of residence is on Islay or Jura or if you have frequent access to your holiday home here. Other requests will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
Fairway Mats

As from Monday the 20th November the use of fairway mats is compulsory on all play from the fairway and semi rough.

If you don’t have a mat they can be collected from the golf shop Monday to Friday for a £5 deposit. There will be no mats available for collection over the weekend so anyone wishing to play during this time MUST collect a mat from the shop during opening hours.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation on this matter.
